The Town of Hantsport encompasses approximately one square mile of the area of Hants County. The Town has developed and remains primarily an industrial-residential area and therefore continues to play an important role in the economic well-being of West Hants and Kings Counties. Home of Frances Da Silva (Folk Artist) and William Hall (1st Nova Scotian and 1st Black to receive the Victoria Cross). shipClimate: The Town of Hantsport has a temperate climate. Precipitation falls both in the form of rainfall and snowfall. The rainfall is fairly well distributed throughout the year and compares on average with the rest of Nova Scotia. The frost free season ranges from 110 to 140 days on average.

Population: In 1998, the population of the Town of Hantsport was 1250 persons.

Economy: The Town of Hantsport has large industries such as Minas Basin Pulp and Power Co. Ltd., CKF Inc., and Fundy Gypsum Co. Limited. The Town of Hantsport was one of the world's largest shipbuilding ports (over 200 wooden ships).

Government: The Town of Hantsport has six councilors and a Mayor elected every four years. Programs and policies recommended by the various standing committees, commissions and boards are carried out by the Chief Administrative Officer and staff.

Transportation: The Town of Hantsport is very well served with a transportation system. The road network provides easy access to other points in the province. The main arterial roads are Route #1 (old Halifax Highway) and Highway #101. These highways provide quick and easy access to the Halifax-Dartmouth metropolitan area as well as points further west in the Valley. A terminal bus service is located in Falmouth. The Halifax International Airport provides freight service to locations within the Town and is located 1 hour from Hantsport. The Windsor and Hantsport Railway Company is one of two private companies in Nova Scotia.

Tourist Bureau: The bureau is located on Main Street and is open from June - September. The bureau is staffed with well informed employees and information required by the travelling public.

Recreation Facilities: The Hantsport Memorial Community Centre provides a centrally located focal point for sports and entertainment within the Town. During the summer months, supervised playground, baseball, soccer, and swimming activities are available on the grounds. In addition, the centre functions as the main stage for the Town's annual July 1st celebrations.
